Sending WhatsApp Messages from a Deal or Contact
How to send WhatsApp messages from the deal sidebar, the contact page, the WhatsApp inbox, and via automations.
Once a team member has connected their WhatsApp at https://app.trustpager.com/account/connect and turned on workspace sharing, the whole team can send WhatsApp messages directly from deals, contacts, and the inbox — without switching apps.
Sending from a deal
Open any opportunity and look at the right-hand sidebar. You will see a row of communication buttons: Send Email, Send SMS, and Send WhatsApp. Click Send WhatsApp to open the compose modal.
The compose modal lets you:
- Pick the contact you want to message (defaults to the deal's primary contact)
- Type your message
- Send immediately
The message will appear on the deal's activity timeline and in the WhatsApp inbox at https://app.trustpager.com/inbox/whatsapp.
Sending from a contact
The same Send WhatsApp button is available on the contact detail page. Open any contact and use the communication buttons in the sidebar. Messages sent this way appear on the contact's activity timeline.
Sending from the WhatsApp inbox
Go to https://app.trustpager.com/inbox/whatsapp. Click New Message in the top-right corner to start a fresh conversation with any contact. If a conversation already exists, click into it and type in the reply field at the bottom.
What to do when the button is disabled
If no team member in your workspace has connected and shared their WhatsApp yet, the Send WhatsApp button will be visible but disabled, with a tooltip explaining why. To fix this:
- If you want to send yourself: go to https://app.trustpager.com/account/connect and pair your WhatsApp, then turn on workspace sharing.
- If a teammate has already paired but not enabled sharing: ask them to go to https://app.trustpager.com/account/connect and turn the Share with workspace toggle on.
As soon as at least one person in the workspace has their WhatsApp paired and shared, the button becomes active for everyone.
Sending WhatsApp via automations
You can also send WhatsApp messages automatically as part of an automation. In the automation builder, add a new action and look for Send WhatsApp under the Communication category — it sits in the same list as Send Email and Send SMS.
The action supports four recipient targets:
- Deal's primary contact — the main contact on the opportunity that triggered the automation
- Customer's primary contact — the primary contact on the linked company
- Specific phone number — a fixed E.164 number you type directly into the action
- Linked WhatsApp group — a group that has been linked to the deal (see https://trustpager.com/help-center/whatsapp-groups-deals)
