How to Create and Send Email Blasts
Create broadcast email blasts, build your audience, test before you send, confirm consent, and track opens, clicks, and delivery from the Email Marketing tool.
Email Marketing lets you send broadcast emails to a targeted segment of your contacts, all from one place. Use it for newsletters, product announcements, client updates, or any message that needs to land with more than one person at once.
Blasts are separate from transactional emails (the one-to-one messages you send from an opportunity or contact record). A blast goes to many contacts at once and tracks opens, clicks, and bounces across the whole send.
Before You Start
Blasts send via TrustPager Mail. You need an email configuration with TrustPager Mail set up before you can send. Check https://app.trustpager.com/settings/email. If you see a sending address there, you are ready to go.
Create a Blast
Go to https://app.trustpager.com/growth/email-blasts. Hit New Campaign in the top right. A draft blast opens straight away.
Compose Your Email
The blast editor has several content fields:
- Campaign Name (internal label, not visible to recipients)
- Subject Line (required, this is what contacts see in their inbox)
- Intro Text (optional one-liner shown above the main body)
- Email Body (rich text editor, required before you can send)
- Call to Action (optional button with a label and URL)
A footer reply button can be toggled on or off below the CTA fields.
Choose Your Audience
The Audience panel on the right controls who receives the blast. Each filter is a multi-select: pick one or several values, or leave it empty to match any. You can filter by:
- Pipeline — limit to contacts on opportunities in a specific pipeline. When exactly one pipeline is selected, a Stages filter appears so you can narrow further by stage.
- Opportunity Status — open, won, lost, or any combination.
- Opportunity Tags — target contacts whose linked opportunities carry specific tags.
- Assigned To — contacts on opportunities assigned to one or more team members.
A live count shows how many contacts match as you adjust the filters, so you can see exactly who is getting it before you commit. Only contacts with an email address are included. Exclude unsubscribed is on by default and will never send to anyone who has opted out of marketing email. Leave it on unless you have a very specific reason to override it.
Saving
The editor auto-saves as you type. You will see a "Saved" indicator in the editor confirming your work is stored. There is no manual Save button to worry about. A blast that has never been sent sits on the list with a Draft status until you are ready to send it.
Test and Send
When your content and audience are ready, hit Test and Send in the top right. This opens a two-step flow designed to make sure you have seen the email in a real inbox before it goes to anyone on your list.
Step 1: Test
Send a preview to yourself (or a few addresses) before the real send. Type up to five email addresses in the recipients field and hit Send Test. The test email arrives in exactly the same format your contacts will see it.
A few things to know about test sends:
- Tests are unlimited and free to send as many times as you like.
- A test does not create contact records for the addresses you enter.
- Tests never count toward your blast stats (opens, clicks, and delivery figures are not affected).
- The real Send step does not unlock until you have sent at least one test. This is intentional: you should always see it in a real inbox first.
Step 2: Send
Once you are happy with how the email looks, move to the Send tab. Before the send button becomes active you need to tick two confirmation boxes:
- Consent confirmation: tick to confirm that every contact on your list has given their consent to receive marketing email from you. This is required for compliance with anti-spam laws including the Australian Spam Act, CAN-SPAM, CASL, and GDPR. Only send to people who have explicitly opted in.
- Send acknowledgement: tick to confirm you understand that the broadcast will go to the number of recipients shown and cannot be undone once it starts.
Once both boxes are ticked, the Send button activates. Hit it and the blast moves to Sending, then to Sent once all messages have been dispatched.
Duplicate-Send Protection
If you try to send a blast with content that is byte-for-byte identical to one you have already broadcast, TrustPager will block the send and show a warning with the date and time it last went out. This is a safety net to catch accidental double-sends.
If you genuinely want to send the same email again (for example, a recurring newsletter to a fresh audience), you have two options:
- Make any change to the content (even a small tweak) and the protection clears automatically.
- Confirm the override in the warning prompt to send the identical content anyway.
Re-using a Blast
After a blast has been sent at least once, its status becomes Ready. Ready blasts are fully editable: you can update the content, adjust the audience, and send again whenever you like. Use this to send recurring newsletters or updated announcements to a fresh audience without starting from scratch.
You can also duplicate any blast from the list to create a separate copy with the same content and audience. Handy when you want to spin up a variant without changing the original.
Track Results
Open any sent blast from https://app.trustpager.com/growth/email-blasts to see:
- Sent (total messages dispatched)
- Delivered (confirmed inbox delivery)
- Opened (unique opens tracked by pixel)
- Clicked (link clicks inside the email)
- Bounced (hard or soft bounces)
- Unsubscribed (contacts who opted out from this send)
The recipients table below the stats shows each contact's individual delivery status, open time, and click time. Per-contact tracking, not just totals. You know exactly who read it and who didn't, so your follow-up list is right there.
The blast list also shows aggregate open rate and bounce rate across all your sent blasts at a glance.
Troubleshooting
- Test and Send button is greyed out: you are missing a subject line or email body. Fill in both and the button becomes active.
- Send button inside the flow is greyed out: you have not yet sent at least one test, or you have not ticked both confirmation boxes. Complete both steps and it will unlock.
- Blocked with a duplicate-send warning: the content is identical to a blast you already sent. Either tweak the content or confirm the override in the prompt.
- Audience shows 0 contacts: your filters are too narrow, or none of the matching contacts have an email address on record.
- Blast status is Failed: there was an issue with the email provider. The blast can be deleted but not resent. Duplicate it and send the duplicate instead.
